Promo videos have become a strategic approach to enhance digital marketing and communicate brand value. In this case study, our focus is on a crypto company named ChainSwap and its new telegram bot. We aim to present our design process for effective promotional videos to introduce this crypto safety platform. These videos played a defining role in simplifying ChainSwap’s complicated blockchain processes, increasing user adoption, and enhancing brand visibility in a competitive market.

Brand Brief:

ChainSwap is a secure and efficient cross-chain platform designed to enhance interoperability and privacy in cryptocurrency transactions. It connects different blockchains using advanced tech like Chainlink’s CCIP, backed by strong Layer 5 security. With privacy swaps, a multi-chain DEX, and a handy Telegram bot, it gives users full control over their assets while keeping transactions smooth and anonymous.

Project Overview:

Our team collaborated with ChainSwap to produce over ten high-quality animated videos. The goal of the video production was to introduce and showcase their blockchain-based services. These videos combined 2D and 3D animation techniques to deliver an engaging and visually striking narrative, explain the platform’s features, and increase its ROI.

Project Objectives:

The video production goals were set on the following:

  • Showcasing ChainSwap’s Services
  • Highlighting its advanced Telegram bot
  • Promoting its socials with a strong call to action

Challenge:

Producing over ten videos for each ChainSwap service under a tight deadline demanded an in-depth understanding of the platform. We were envisioning impactful, alluring, and cinematic videos with exhaustive storyboard design. With only a questionnaire from the ChainSwap team and a one-hour online session with the client, the rest was up to us: researching the company’s website, refining its brand voice, and translating complex crypto concepts into compelling visuals.

Solutions and Video Production Process

Research and Conceptualization

We conducted quick but thorough research about ChainSwap’s services, competitors, and current industry trends. Looking into our competitors,1inch, Shapeshift, and Alexar, we detected the following design techniques in their promo video production:

Simplified Visual Metaphors: The videos employ straightforward animations to represent complex cross-chain interactions.

Technical Illustrations: In many instances, detailed diagrams and animations are used to explain the underlying mechanisms of the protocol.

User Journey Focus: In some cases, the narrative follows a typical user’s experience and highlights how the platform provides a service as a solution to a major user problem.

In summary, each company has gone for different approaches to audience engagement including personified blockchain networks, live demonstrations, and character animation. Still, our competitor analysis aimed to gather data on successful examples and combine these shared attributions with our interpretation of ChainSwap.

Agile Storyboarding and Scriptwriting

After understanding industry trends, we switched to brainstorming to develop storyboard templates. These are illustrative shots capturing the video, usually hand-drawn, to help us customize the video and map our sequence. When preparing several scripts for the same brand, it is crucial to keep the tone and script format consistent. Thus, we used a modular scriptwriting approach to repurpose segments across the videos. This approach involves breaking down a script into reusable components that can be rearranged and adapted for different videos. It not only helps us have the required consistency but also speeds up production and maintains a unified brand voice.

Visual Strategy and Production Pipeline

Before production, we established a cohesive visual identity aligned with ChainSwap’s branding. Given that blue and black were the primary UI colors, we extended these elements into the videos for a futuristic and tech-driven aesthetic. To increase visual appeal, we decided to integrate blue-infused animations within the text, filling select letters dynamically. Similarly important, we tasked our 3D team with descriptive 3D models that could accompany the visual translation of our scripts. The plan was to create a magnificent shady look with gradient lighting, reflections, and a subtle glow. Our visual strategy included:

  • outlining scene transitions, lighting, and 3D animations
  • mapping out how the 3D models, in this case, the rocket, the countdown timer, and the blue doors, would function
  • deciding on the right cinematic effects and typography effects that would reinforce themes of transformation and restructuring

Tight Deadline Optimization

We established a parallel workflow, assigning scriptwriters, storyboard artists, and animators to work concurrently rather than sequentially. Clear communication with the client was also crucial. As the team worked through the project’s varied creative requirements, we hosted regular update sessions to review progress and stay in sync.

Video Post-Production and Delivery

After some hard work and dedication from the team, we were left with outstanding results. We thank all our team members for these masterpieces: the synchronization of marching sounds with movements, the quality of 3D objects, the electrifying and dramatic storytelling, the concise and impactful script, and the artsy illustrations, all coming together to create an absolute bomb of an effect!
